Run Regina and GMS Health and Travel Insurance are excited to announce a five-year extention to the title sponsorship of the GMS Queen City Marathon.

Run Regina, the producers of the GMS Queen City Marathon, and GMS, a national health insurance provider based in Regina, announced an extension to their sponsorship of the Queen City Marathon. This extension will ensure the Queen City Marathon is able to continue welcoming in excess of 6,000 runners and walkers, from around the globe, through 2026.

"We're so excitied to continue our sponsorship of the GMS Queen City Marathon," says John Salmond, President and CEO of GMS Health and Travel Insurance. "The Queen City Marathon focus on 'a race for every pace' aligns perfectly with our committment to helping our customers and our community live well. Whether it's someone's first 5K walk or their 10th full marathon, the GMS Queen City Marathon is all about personal achievement, and triumphing over obstacles to make your own health and wellbeing a priority."

"Having incredible community partners, like GMS, has provided a foundation for what we have accomplished over the first 20 years of the Queen City Marathon," says Shawn Weimer, Executive Director of Run Regina and the Race Director of the Queen City Marathon. "Growing the event into Saskatchewan's largest, week-long racing festival and helping raise over $500,000 for local charities and community groups would not happen without their committment."

The Queen City Marathon was a virtual event in 2020 after having to cancel the in-person race for the first time in 20 years. Run Regina just recently announced that the in-person races will return the weekend of September 10-12 this fall, with all registration opening on July 1st for new, in-person participants.

"Race weekend is truly an awesome experience," says GMS' John Salmond. "We have staff participating in practically every race, and volunteering for our water station and cheer tent to support everyone walking, rolling and running in events. Run Regina did a great job of making a virtual event work last year, but we're looking forward to celebrating the GMS Queen City Marathon's 20th anniversary with all the positive energy and excitment of in-person events."

In addition to the sponsorship extention with GMS, the Queen City Marathon has also recently extended long-term sponsorshop with Campbell & Haliburton Insurance and Investments, Saskatchewan Egg Producers and the Regina Hotel Association.
